Dr. Venkataraman

Dr. Venkataraman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been in private practice since opening Southwest Medical 1988 and is on staff at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Advocate Christ Hospital and Metro South Medical Center for several years.

Dr. Venkataraman’s emphasis is spending quality time with every patient offering superior care, treating all as individuals and providing care that ensures the best possible long term outcomes. His specialties include colon cancer screenings, inflammatory bowel disease prevention, gallstones & biliary duct diseases and peptic ulcer disease. He performs Colonoscopies, Upper Endoscopies and ERCPs. He performs outpatient and simple office procedures for the treatment of hemorrhoids and anorectal conditions and incontinence. Dr. Venkataraman is a member in good standing of the ISMS, ASGE,AGA and AMA organizations.

Dr. Mahesh Vadali

Dr. Mahesh Vadali is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. His emphasis is to treat patients with individualized care, attentiveness and with an emphasis on long-term treatment goals and strategies. He strives to achieve long lasting solutions for patient’s medical problems and concerns.

A local Chicagoan, Dr. Vadali has called Chicago home nearly his entire life. His early high school years were spent at Loyola Academy . He completed his undergraduate work, medical school and residency through Northwestern University. Dr. Vadali performed his fellowship in Gastroenterology, through the University of Chicago, which prepared him well for the beginning of his career at Rush Medical Center prior to coming to the south side of Chicago to serve in private practice since 1997. Dr. Vadali is on staff at Metro South Medical Center, Christ Advocate Hospital and Little Company of Mary Hospital. Dr. Vadali is married with children.

Dr. Rajalaxmi McKenna

Dr. Rajalaxmi McKenna is Board Certified in Oncology and Hematology and is a specialist in Hemostatis & Thrombosis (bleeding and clotting disorders). She has a long academic background in Medicine and Pharmacology, servicing as director of her Basic Science Laboratory, Clinical Director of several specialized laboratories in Hematology, Radiohematology, Hemostasis & Thrombosis as well as the Diagnostic Vascular Laboratory.

She has designed, conducted, evaluated and presented many clinical trials as a Principal Investigator for almost three decades. In 1990 she was invited to Oxford University in London to a special conference for a few select investigators from around the world. She has taught in Medicine, Pharmacology, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Anesthesia and other departments and has lectured at local, regional, national and international venues for students and faculty at various levels. Her last academic appointment was as Clinical Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, the largest Medical School in the country. She has written numerous articles and has been a CME Editor on-line for chapters in Oncology-Hematology and Hemostasis and Thrombosis. She is a member of the American Society of Oncology, Hematology and a member of the International Society of Hemostasis and thrombosis. She will provide literature based, sound scientific care in a personalized manner, after in-depth consultations with the patient and their families, to foster a mutually supportive and caring environment. She expects the patient to participate fully in critical decision-making. She will assist and guide the person in their understanding of their disease and its management. Her expertise in clinical trials and the ability to judge trial content is an invaluable tool in assessing all options. Her universe revolves around the patient, so that she can provide medically sound, compassionate and individualized care. She will also communicate with the primary physician to make certain that they are aware of critical details. Dr. McKenna is fluent in several languages including Spanish. In her personal time, Dr. McKenna also contributes to many volunteer activities.
